How do Cars & Cars 2 fit in the Pixar Theory?
What are the movies about?
A lot has happened in between the events of Inside Out and
Cars. Last we checked, humans were ruling the world in 2015 and animals were on
the cusp of advanced evolution. How did we get to the world of Cars, where
machines run the planet? So what happened in the future? Now there will be a
lot of information about Wall-E, as Wall-E gives us a lot of information. In Wall-
E, we are told that humanity experienced a massive rise in consumerism as BnL
took over the entire planet. It is the year 2057. Exactly 50 years after Up,
Finding Nemo and Ratatouille- BnL had taken over the world enacted a right to
spend initiative. Their idea was to make humans happy through consumerism,
which in turn keeps machines powerful. The problem is that this massive
consumerism eventually lead to pollution. We learn in Wall-E that by the 22nd
century, the Earth is blanketed by garbage. To fix their mess, BnL initiates
Operation Clean-up. They create the BnLStarliners, in 2105. These large
spaceships are designed to hold the world’s 200 billion people until the planet
is clean again. BnL sends millions of Wall-E units to Earth, which are mobile
cleaning robots. These robots package the garbage into cubes and place them
inside large incinerators.
The plan was for humanity to return after five years but BnL abandoned the planet due to high levels of toxicity. In 2110 the remaining humans leave Earth and none return for another 700 years. The movie doesn’t go into what happens during those 700 years. It just opens with the aftermath. We assume that the Wall-E units were shut off by BnL when the planet was abandoned but forgot to turn them off. So, what about the Cars movies? Even if the planet was too toxic for humans, machines still stayed behind to finish the clean-up. That’s were Cars comes in. In the movie, we clearly see that their world exists within the human one. If you’ve watched these movies you’ve probably noticed several dates thrown around that contradict the timeline. When you watch the movies, you can tell the age of the cars by what models they are. So what’s the deal? Is Cars just some alternate version of Earth with references to human concepts? Here is Jon Negroni’s theory on what really happened. |
The theory and moreIn 2105, the humans leave Earth while the machines stay
behind. The only machines we see are Wall-E units doing their jobs. That
doesn’t mean that they are the only machines around. Negroni believes that the
cars take over after the humans that once drove them leave. For five years they
are the only machines left that aren’t being controlled by BnL, simply because
they are older cars from the 20th and 21st centuries.
Once BnL shuts everything down in 2110, someone has to pick up the pieces and
that falls to the only machines left on Earth. Basically, both of the Cars
movies take place after 2110, when BnL officially abandoned Earth. How could
the events of Cars and Cars 2 encompass only the 22nd century? We
saw flashbacks of the 20th century that plainly had the cars
participating in them! The theory is these are false memories based on their
perspective. In reality humans, who once owned these cars, actually did all of
the things the cars were remembering. When the humans left, the cars lost their
batteries, which forced them to take on the human personalities and memories of
the people who used to love and own them.
So, why are there no animals in both Cars movies? Throughout the Cars movies, there is only one sighting of animals that aren’t just little cars with fly wings. The only animals we see are a row of birds, which if you blink you will miss it. Other than that, we never see any animals. It’s been about 100 years since we started seeing animals becoming more intelligent, so what caused them to diminish in numbers. It’s hard to say for sure, though there are plenty of theories that make sense, like the theory that all the pollution and machines caused the animals to die out. Another theory is that the industrial expansion killed off many animals by taking away their habitats. |
The Facts/Evidence
- .Machines are still heavily influenced by humans.
- Humans had to flee Earth because of pollution.
- Cars in Japan prove that they are on Earth.
